Kettlebell fitness This tool is a traditional Russian cast iron weight that looks like a cannonball with a handle. All exercises are done with momentum and require every muscle in the body to react. In weight training, you isolate a specific muscle as you perform an exercise and this leads to a short, tightened muscle. The muscles you develop during Kettlebell are more likely to be elongated, because while you are strengthening them, you are simultaneously lengthening them. You also do not focus on an isolated muscle, but actively recruit the smaller muscle groups as well. You truly work your entire body when you practice Kettlebell . It will help you realign your muscles, so they are more balanced, and strong. Since you are not overworking any specific muscle group, you are less likely to get injured. In addition to all its other benefits, Kettlebell can help you improve muscle fitness, you can choose to use it as your primary means of strength training. Your muscles will grow fit, balanced, and strong. Super beneficial for tendons and ligaments.
Mindful Yoga Mindful Yoga is a mix of relaxing, stretching poses with just enough challenge built to take you deeper than you thought you could go.
Restorative Yoga: Restorative Flow classes differ from “restorative poses” in that the class is a gentle flow from one relaxing posture into the next using props and blankets to modify traditional yoga poses. Yoga students who will benefit from this type of practice are:
those who want to deeply relax and de-stress
those wanting a contemplative practice
those with chronic illnesses such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, arthritis and are looking for ways to exercise in a safe manner
those with limited range of motion
those who want to develop their awareness of subtle energy or prana
Hatha-yoga is a practice focused on performance of asanas (postures), born out of the tradition of the sage Patanjali. Its practice is meant to fortify the body as well as the mind for the intensity of the ecstatic experience of the transcendent. Classes, though somewhat relaxed, will challenge the body and mind to maintain focus, tranquility, and a level mind throughout the ebb and flow created by alternating between physically engaging and demanding poses and restful, meditative poses. Though the body is not always in motion, as in other practices, the performance of individual poses enables practitioners to grow in those poses both in body and mind.
Soma Yoga
Soma Yoga gently explores the intimate relationship between body and mind and how one is invariably influenced by and expressed through the other. The contents of the mind (thoughts/emotions/beliefs/etc.) are not entirely confined to the mind; quite the contrary, they also exist in our muscles and nervous system where, after enough repetition, they eventually manifest as strong patterns/habits/holding. The more we embody these patterns, the more we find ourselves suffering from a restricted range of motion both physically and psychologically. With your breath guiding you through slow, conscious/embodied movement, powerfully centering and revitalizing mantras, simple meditation, and deep relaxation, Soma Yoga brings you into the more subtle layers of your mind-body, where you can begin to consciously release the hold of old habitual patterns, awaken to your inner-wisdom and guidance, and realign with the natural flow of your mind and body.
Embody Flow (Last Sunday of every month)
Embody Flow is special 2-hour, monthly class that is quickly becoming a local favorite! Class begins with slow somatic explorations designed to cultivate total body awareness & presence. Next, flow into a gentle warming sequence of yoga asanas, allowing the awareness & intelligence of your body to witness & inform breath, alignment, & sensations. Then, relinquish all technique as you deepen into your current experience by fully embodying & expressing the unique movements, shapes, & sounds of your inner flow. As you move in ways that are uninhibited & instinctual, let the wisdom of your inner flow guide you through a truly incredible journey. After a nourishing round of Yin & Restorative poses, creative writing/journaling and art making support & encourage you to receive & integrate every amazing aspect of your sacred journey to your most authentic self. Class ends with partially guided, deep relaxation & brief meditation to send you back into the world renewed & awakened.
Bhava Vinyasa Flow & Restore
According to its founder, Shannon Paige, Bhava Vinyasa Yoga strives to link a fluid and transformational vinyasa practice with the healing prowess of restorative yoga. It is a deeply nurturing practice that answers the body's call to move and its call to rest. By beautifully and skillfully combining progressive vinyasa flow (inspired by the vibratory pulsation methodology of Shiva Rea's Prana Flow) and the deeply soulful currents of Paige's Anjali Restorative Yoga, Bhava Vinyasa encourages a balanced experience of radical self-participation for the practitioner, allowing him or her a greater sense of connection, foundation, and freedom both on and off the mat. The word "bhavana" means "healing state," so the benefits of such a gracious interweaving of flow and restoration are specifically aimed at stress reduction and allaying the burden of depression and the flare of anxiety. Come support your body's natural ability to heal itself through this rich and radiant practice.
